Cardamom Pods? Are They Really the Bee's Knees?

Seriously?! Recently, I've seen cardamom listed in several recipes. SO, I decided to add it to my grocery list to give it a try. That was until I got to the store and saw that one tiny little bottle was $13! I passed right on by. Again today, I saw it listed in another recipe. Is it worth it? Have you tried it? Should I suck it up and buy it? I love to try new things, but $13 for that?! What if I don't like it?

Well, it is a spice that can last ten years I think - I recommend buying a food item that has it in it, and seeing if you like the taste...it is definitely ethnic. I think that it is in Taco Seasoning if I remember correctly.

Hmm, thanks Ru! I had no idea what it was. Let me know if you try it Jess, sounds interesting.

I think the new blog look will keep me in better touch ;). Can't wait for Sunday, oh and I'll bring you a bar of Ivory! Like I said, it comes 3 for .99 and I'm moving next Monday so the less I pack the better!

I like cardamom, but agree with Ru, you should try it in some food before you drop the $13 for it.

Have you checked out a health foods store? I can usually find herbs/spices there for quite a bit cheaper than at the grocery store. I have never actually tried cardamom for the same reason you were hesitant to buy it! Let us know what you decide to do....and if you like it or not.
